George Reohorn, independent surveyor, was a valued mentor and professional associate of Kathleen Kilbey and her Marine Survey Practice from the early 1980’s until 2018, when George,sadly, passed away. George had unrivalled knowledge and experience of wooden boats and wooden boat surveys, although latterly in his career he coould also be persuaded to survey interesting boats built of other materials. His dry humour and vast experience and knowledge are sorely missed.
It has to be said, there is nothing like the smell of teak and mahogany, with a whiff or two of diesel oil from the bilges of an old wooden boat to excite the nautical senses and get the adrenalin flowing…..
